Love is in the air! Can you feel it? Maybe you are in the greatest relationship of your life and Valentine’s Day is one of your favorite days to celebrate. Or maybe you are in a difficult marriage and you are feeling unloved. You are dreading Valentine’s Day. Maybe you don’t have a significant other and Valentine’s Day is just another blaring reminder that you are alone. Perhaps divorce has shred your heart to pieces and you would rather hide under the blankets on your bed than look at one more advertisement for the day of love. Whatever your relationship status, I want to remind you of some truths about God’s love that you can hold fast to for Valentine’s Day. 3 Precious Promises To Remember On Valentine’s Day.
He Is Yours, You Are His
I love how God claims us as His in the book of Jeremiah. We belong to Him, He holds us close to His heart. He longs to know us, He desires a relationship with us so deeply that He gives us the heart to know Him.
He does not want to miss out on spending time with us.
I have turned this verse into a prayer for myself: “Father God, give me the heart to know You, that You are Lord. I am Yours and You are mine. I will return to You with my whole heart.”
When I pray that verse, I fall more in love with Him. In my heart of hearts, He is mine and I am His. What a wonderful thought to meditate on.
It Begins With Him
Do you notice that this progression begins with God giving us the heart to know Him? We don’t do this on our own. It is a gift He gives to us because of His longing to be in communion with us. He gives us the desire to know Him so that we will know, without a doubt, that He is Lord over all. When we have Him as Lord over our lives, we become His and He is ours. We belong together. We are knit together. And because of that, we will return to Him fully and completely.
Our return starts with Him.
You Are A Beautiful Daughter Of The Most High King
I love the image I get from Psalm 45. The Lord is our King, we are royal daughters. We are beautiful to Him. We have been given royal robes to adorn ourselves with. He has allowed us…welcomed us…into His throne room.
He waits for us to come to Him. And when we do, He receives us into His presence. And we shall enter His presence with great joy and gladness.
Are you experiencing His joy? If you are struggling in this area, ask Him for the gift of His joy. I have realized lately that we don’t always see the joy that we are exhibiting. But others do. People seem to be able to see the joy in us easier than we can!
Let’s come to Him with joy-filled hearts.
He Will Set You On High
Because we love Him, God reassures us that He will take care of us. He will set us on high because we know His name, we know His voice.
He promises to answer us when we call upon Him. No “buts”. No “ifs”. He will answer. Always.
This is how much He loves us.
He promises to be with us in our trouble. He is there when we are lonely. When we feel like we are being swallowed by darkness. He is there. The times when we are walking through pain. He’s there. Regardless of whether or not we feel Him, He is there. Because that is His promise to those that belong to Him. And He is faithful. Forever.
Delivered and Honored
Not only is He with us, but He will also deliver us and honor us. I am in the midst of this season right now. He has delivered me from a painful and abusive relationship and He is now honoring me because of His faithfulness. If you are going through something hard and painful, your time of deliverance and honor is coming, sister. Your Savior is on His way! Hold fast to His promises.
Long Life and Salvation
Our Lord will satisfy us with long life. How much longer can we live than eternity? What a blessed thought! To be satisfied, to be content, sitting at the feet of my Savior for all eternity.
Best of all, He will prove to us how much He loves us through salvation. God’s salvation is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Because of His love for us, He sent His one and only Son to perish in the most dreadful way so that we can be with Him forever. What kind of Love is that? Crazy Love! That’s the love He has for me and for you. Can you rest in that truth today?
Set your love upon Him.
